Positron Emission Tomography – Computed Tomography (PET-CT)

Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Computed Tomography (CT) are imaging tools that can be utilized at the same time to help physicians locate cancer within the body.

Available at the Jasonway Avenue location, a PET/CT is completely painless, with no side effects. After fasting overnight, the patient receives an injection via IV in the forearm of a small amount of radioactive glucose. The CT portion of the test sends x-rays through the body that will map the body structure. The PET portion produces a whole body map of the glucose distribution.
